MidCentral DHB is planning for New Zealand Resident Doctors’ Association (NZRDA) industrial action.
MidCentral DHB has been informed by the New Zealand Resident Doctors’ Association (NZRDA) that their members, junior medical staff, intend to take strike action across New Zealand from 8am, Tuesday 29 January until 8am, Thursday 31 January.
While every effort will be taken to minimise the impact on patients, the strike action means the delivery of some services at Palmerston North Hospital will be impacted.
Any patients whose appointments, procedures or elective surgeries need to be postponed due to this action will be contacted prior to the strike period. If you have an appointment during the directly after this timeframe and have not been notified, or if you have any queries directly related to this, please call 0800 PNHOSP (0800 764 677).
We realise that this action will be inconvenient to some of you, but please be assured that all efforts are being made ensure minimal disruption and a safe environment to everyone requiring services at Palmerston North Hospital during this time.
What can you do to help?
We are asking that you book any non-urgent appointments with your GP Practice Team outside of this strike period, and that you visit your GP Practice Team for any non-emergency health issues you experience during the strike period. Other healthcare options include visiting a Pharmacist or calling Healthline on 0800 611 116.
