Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.

The Urology Department at Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua – MidCentral is looking for a full-time Specialist Urologist to join our fantastic and cohesive team. The service currently employs 5 urologists, 1 Training registrar, and 2 non-Training registrars. Working in our team means commitment to high-quality and timely patient care, so if you share these values, we want to hear from you!

We currently care for patients across the central North Island as a Regional Urology Service. Our catchment area covers the population centres of Whanganui, Horowhenua, Rangitikei, Horowhenua, Wairarapa, and Manawatu Districts. Our hospital also anchors the Regional Cancer Treatment Service with medical oncology and radiation oncology. Treating cancer will be a sizeable part of your practice. If you have a special interest in paediatric urology, we’d love to help you mature your practice here. The population is diverse and growing, and to meet this demand we need you.

You will be busy immediately and will have a full set of the latest technology at your disposal. You will have unparalleled collegial support with regular departmental, radiology, and multi-disciplinary meetings. We pride ourselves on being a highly regarded training stop for the registrars; there are teaching opportunities abound and are encouraged. Call covers a week at a time and is not onerous or intrusive.

In addition to all the above, we also offer:
• Six weeks annual leave per annum.
• 10 paid days per annum available for continued medical education including a generous allowance towards costs of course and travel, each year.
• Generous relocation packages for national and international candidates with dedicated support throughout your move.

Living in Palmerston North is easy; you can pause and slow down your hectic pace. The town layout means nothing is more than a 10-minute drive (or bike) away. With our inland location, everything on the central and lower North Island is just a short trip away - beaches close by, ski fields and wineries just up the road, stunning scenery with loads of hiking tracks including Te Arapuke Mountain bike track. Our region also offers excellent schools and a local university. The energy is building in Palmy, so if you haven’t visited in a while, you’ll find it a pleasantly different town.
