The Regional Cancer Treatment Service at MidCentral District Health Board provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and clinical haematology services for the communities of the MidCentral, Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Whanganui and Taranaki District Health Boards.
We are seeking to appoint a Medical Officer for the Regional Cancer Treatment Service (RCTS) based at Hastings Hospital in Villa 6.  This is a non-specialist position suitable for a doctor with an interest in oncology.  This position supports the three specialties of Medical Oncology, Clinical Haematology and Radiation Oncology.
Applicants for this position must have, or be eligible for, general registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as well as having demonstrated clinical skills and the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.  Some experience in cancer medicine, and knowledge of chemotherapy, is an advantage, but not essential.
The role will predominantly support the delivery of systemic cancer therapy in the Hawke’s Bay and advising and assessing acutely presenting patients under the care of the RCTS.  This role is an integral member of the cancer team at Hawke’s Bay, supporting and advising a team of specialist cancer nurses and working alongside the RCTS Senior Medical Officers.

Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000. In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.
Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
