Are you an Orthopaedic Surgeon looking for a new opportunity?
If so then this vacancy might be the one for you. Work in a collegial environment and enjoy the ease of living in a small city with a great region to explore on your down time!
About the Role
MidCentral Health is looking for an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a sub-speciality interest in Paediatric Orthopaedics to replace one of our long serving colleagues who is retiring. There may be a second vacancy for a surgeon with a spinal interest.
The orthopaedic service at MidCentral Health is a generalist one with both elective and trauma work undertaken. In particular elective hip and knee replacement surgery and general orthopaedic trauma surgery (predominantly occurring on scheduled day time acute trauma operating lists) will be an essential part of any orthopaedic SMO’s workload as well as participation in the on call roster. We are keen to appoint a surgeon with a paediatric interest to work alongside our current paediatric surgeon who is planning to retire within the next few years. Other subspecialities we would consider favorably include spinal and foot/ankle surgery.
You would be one of 8 Orthopaedic Specialists. There is also a Medical Officer, 6 Registrars (two are on the national training program) and House Officers.
Applicants must hold FRACS Orthopaedics or equivalent and be eligible for vocational registration in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Join MidCentral District Health Board and become part of our journey as we continue with our transformational change to establish the organisation as a high performing health system. The transformation involves introducing a system that delivers integrated care by engaging across primary, specialist and community based service providers to provide better health outcomes for the communities we serve.
At MidCentral you will work alongside a diverse team of professionals who are passionate about delivering quality health and disability services.
MidCentral staff enjoy wellness and benefits schemes, investment in professional development, and career progression opportunities. A competitive remuneration package is being offered as well as the opportunity to contribute to making a positive impact in the health outcomes of people in the MidCentral district as we pursue our vision of ‘Quality Living, Healthy Lives, Well Communities’.
MidCentral is an accredited employer with Immigration New Zealand. This means we are able to recruit globally and our Talent work visas will be processed as a priority.
