The Opportunity
 
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Registered Nurse for our Oncology Ambulatory Care Outpatients Service. In this role you will be responsible for the day to day provision of nursing care in the Oncology Day Unit and outpatient clinics for the specialties of Clinical Haematology, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology. Our nursing team is integral to the care provided in these specialist areas.

Hours of work will be 0.5 FTE working rostered duties, including 8 and 10 hour shifts.
 
This role is central to patients receiving outpatient chemotherapy and supportive treatment and works closely with our Oncology inpatient ward to ensure coordinated patient flow across the service.
As an acute oncology nurse, you will have the opportunity to work with patients who are going through a difficult time in their life and help make a real difference to their experience. You will have opportunities to develop skills in the specialised area of oncology and work towards senior clinical and leadership positions such as nurse specialists. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to work in a part of the hospital that is committed to improving Maori health outcomes and have opportunities to be part of our Kaimahi Māori team to broaden your knowledge of Māori health, tikanga and te reo. You will also be a part of a supportive team with a good sense of humour.

The successful candidate will ideally have:
  •  Oncology nursing background
  • 1 year post graduate nursing experience in an acute care hospital 
  • Advanced patient assessment skills
  • Have or working towards Expert Level PDRP
  • Excellent communication skills & computer knowledge
  • Self motivation to learn is important if you are interested in applying for this position
  • Have, or work towards CVAD certification and chemotherapy administration competence within the first six months of employment – full support will be given to achieve this.

The annual salary for the appointment will be within step 1 (new graduate) $73,566 to step 7 $103,630 as per the “Registered Nurse and Midwife Salary Scale” in the Collective Agreement.  Salary is proportionate to hours worked.
