Te Uru Rauhi, Mental Health and Addiction Services at MidCentral DHB have several exciting opportunities for experienced and enthusiastic Registered Nurses. 
 
Based at the Palmerston North Hospital site this position is an opportunity to work within a team providing support to whanau whaiora who present to the Emergency Department and within the wards of Palmerston North Hospital. You will also have the opportunity to provide education and support to the staff working in these areas.
 
Mental Health and Addiction services are moving towards a wellness and recovery-focused approach that encourages interconnectedness socially, spiritually, physically and environmentally and encompasses the aspirations to achieve ‘WAIORA’ flourishing individuals, whānau, and communities. This new service model delivery approach will support the achievement of whānau whaiora. These roles will be pivotal in ensuring in the delivery of safe, efficient, and comprehensive contemporary high quality, person and whānau centred clinical services.
 
The successful candidate will:
  • Be a Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate who can demonstrate an understanding of delivering a person and whānau first service delivery model
  • Have excellent communication skills, including willingness to develop, maintain and enhance our relationships with our community partners such as iwi, primary health care organisations and others. 
  • Be a Duly Authorised Officer under the MHA, or willingness to engage in this training.
  • Be recognised as a proficient or expert clinician.

Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
