MidCentral District Health Board are seeking a suitably qualified Point of Care Testing Administrator or Co-ordinator.  The purpose of the role is:
  • To design, develop and implement and thereafter manage / coordinate a Point of Care Testing programme for MidCentral District Health Board to achieve the objectives required by ISO 22870:2006.
  • Training and ongoing assessment of nursing and medical staff in the operation of POCT equipment.
  • In conjunction with key users, to develop policies and procedures regarding POCT.
Desirable qualifications for a POCT administrator include New Zealand registered health professional with experience of quality assurance programmes

Desirable qualifications for a POCT co-ordinator include New Zealand Registered & Licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist ideally with experience of POCT procedures.
 
The ideal candidate would have an understanding of POCT procedures and capability as follows:
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and an ability to review systems and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written, with the ability to initiate and facilitate open communication with staff.
  • Be client focused and committed to quality outcomes.
  • Able to teach, delegate, consult, build and manage to achieve effective POCT services.
  • Possess excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Skill in use of computer packages especially Word and Excel.
  • Ability to organize own work and self-manage.
  • Flexibility / problem solver.
