The Role
Our fantastic Orthoptic team is ready to welcome a new recruit into our fast paced clinical environment. The MidCentral District Health Board Ophthalmology Department operates in a middle- sized Health Board, and provides Orthoptic Services into our district. With the establishment of this role we will be delivering sub-regional support to our neighbouring DHB in Whanganui.
This is a traditional Orthoptist post with a mostly paediatric caseload, some adult strabismus and complex Oculomotility disorders. You would need to be able to conduct clinics autonomously and work in collaboration with the wider team and other health professionals.
Clinically, you will be based in Palmerston North (0.6FTE) working as part of a wider Ophthalmology team with one other Orthoptist, visiting Optometrists, 3 locally based Ophthalmologists and 2 visiting Ophthalmologists, Registrars, Nurses and Ophthalmic Technicians. You will also be providing a sub-regional Orthoptist service (0.4FTE) in the neighbouring Whanganui hospital where you will be a valued member working in collaboration with 2 locally based Ophthalmologists and eye nurses. (1FTE total between both sites).
If you are a qualified Orthoptist, hold an internationally recognised Orthoptic qualification and have a minimum of two years postgraduate clinical experience, this offers a wonderful opportunity to have a change of scene or make a permanent move to experience the lifestyle that New Zealand has to offer.
MidCentral is an accredited employer with Immigration New Zealand. This means we are able to recruit globally and our Talent work visas will be processed as a priority.
