We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and committed Health and Safety Professional to join our dedicated Occupational Health and Safety team and partner with the wider operational teams. The position is 40 hours a week and will be based in Palmerston North with responsibilities across the MidCentral (District) region. The position is expected to function at both operational and system level.
Applicants should have a relevant Occupational Health and Safety qualification. Experience in working within the health sector would be an advantage. An exciting programme of work to enhance infrastructure of our hospital means that some experience with H&S provisions related to building, construction or manufacturing would be a distinct advantage.
The Occupational Health and Safety team provides occupational and environmental health support to approximately 3,000 employees. You will be a sole operator, working with a small multidisciplinary (Occupational Health) team to provide regulatory, compliance and legislative advice and support across this staff group.
You will primarily be responsible for ensuring that our health and safety systems comply with organisational and legislative requirements. To achieve this you will promote health and safety practice that meets legislative requirements, lead and co-ordinate audits, develop and implement required policy and procedure using a continuous quality improvement approach. A strong business partnership approach with Human Resources and other managers and leadership roles is fundamental to the success of this position.
