Te Uru Rauhi, Mental Health and Addiction Services at Te Whatu Ora Health - MidCentral have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist for our Tararua Community Mental Health and Addictions Service.   
 
Mental Health and Addiction services are moving towards a wellness and recovery-focused approach that encourages interconnectedness socially, spiritually, physically and environmentally and encompasses the aspirations to achieve ‘WAIORA’ flourishing individuals, whānau, and communities. This new service model delivery approach will support the achievement of whānau whaiora.
 
The Occupational Therapist will report to the Tararua Locality Service Manager, this role will be pivotal in ensuring in the delivery of safe, efficient, and comprehensive contemporary high quality, person and whānau centred clinical services.
 
This is a permanent full time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

 
The successful candidate will:

  • Be an experienced Occupational Therapist/ Kai Whakaora Ngangahau with experience in and a passion for mental Health.
  • Someone who can demonstrate and understanding of delivering a person and whānau first service model.
  • Have a focus on functional/occupational performance assessments, provision of information, strategies to optimise quality of life, recovery and transition to home. This will include individual and group interventions where applicable and use sensory modulation strategies. 
  • Practice from and occupation focussed practise model in order to deliver assessments and interventions that promote well-being from a recovery model based on whanau ora principles.
  • Hold a current registration in Occupational Therapy
