A nurse practitioner is an expert practitioner, providing independent advanced clinical nursing expertise for patients and their families / whanau who present to the Emergency Department.
The Department is looking for a nurse practitioner who has a minimum of two years’ experience in the role. Applicants will have the expertise to assist, direct and support the care of patients across all areas of emergency medical care, role modelling expert clinical skills, promoting best practice, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and providing education.
Successful applicants will be required to demonstrate their leadership skills to ensure the growth of this service. This will incorporate the key role in maintenance and support of a professional career pathway that facilitates and supports the transition for Clinical Nurse Specialists to safely advance to the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
This role will require the post holder to be enthusiastic, have sound clinical knowledge and skills. The ability to work weekends and evenings is essential.
