Enable New Zealand is New Zealand's largest provider in the health, rehabilitation and disability sector for equipment, housing and vehicle modification services. We hold regional and national contracts with the Ministry of Health, ACC and District Health Boards. Enable New Zealand is an operating division of MidCentral District Health Board. Our head office is in Palmerston North and we have warehouse and distribution centres in Palmerston North, Christchurch and Hamilton.
We have a unique and very exciting opportunity to be part of our Professional Advisory Team providing expert clinical advice, education and professional support to EMS or ACC Assessors. This is a wide ranging, varied, dynamic, full-time and permanent position.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly dedicated and committed team consisting of EMS Advisors/ACC Professional Advisors, Outreach Wheelchair and Seating Advisors, Outreach Housing Advisors and our Wheelchair & Seating Administrator/Assessor Coordinator. Ability to work independently with a high level of self-discipline, have accurate report writing skills, able to work to time frames and be computer literate to meet our contracted service requirements. Ability to work cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team environment and have that "can do" attitude.
What you will bring
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and suitably experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who has a high level understanding of complex equipment, environmental or community settings for people with long term or injury related disabilities.
As an EMS Advisor you will possess excellent organisational and communication skills and thrive on providing education, advice and support - within MoH and/or ACC criteria. You will have the unique opportunity to work alongside housing advisors, procurement, customer service facilitators, equipment specialists and our Mana Whaikaha team.
Key requirements include:
New Zealand registration as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
A minimum of 5 years post professional qualification experience, working with standard, complex equipment, vehicle or housing needs for clients within MoH or ACC eligibility and criteria.
Ability to provide relevant and timely advice, education and professional support to internal and external people, MOH EMS Assessors, ACC assessors and other key stakeholders.
A current working knowledge of MoH or ACC funding provision for people with long term or injury related disabilities.
First-rate communication and relationship building skills.
Excellent reporting writing and autonomous decision making skills.
A current full driving licence.
Be available to travel within our region if required
