MidCentral District Health Board actively seeks Māori into our workforce to reflect the community we serve.

If you are looking for a challenge, then look no further! We are looking for someone with nursing or social work practitioners and CAMHS experience to join us.

In a team of 4 (alongside another new role of brief intervention worker) you will work at the front end of CAFS ensuring children, young people and their families get a smooth and supportive introduction into our service and compassionate and appropriate care when experiencing a mental health crisis.

For this role we require someone preferably with experience in CAFS, but with experience in mental health and crisis work. Someone who can engage people and make people feel at ease in their presence.

As the first line into the service, you’ll be working to triage referrals into the service for assessment. You’ll be working with the team to assess and support and facilitate any urgent doctor assessments. Working with the clinical leadership to make sure the referrals are the right outcome for the client and following up on referrals for the young people and their families to advise of the outcome of the triage process.

You will be there to support the clinical team for any crisis assessments during business hours, and if not already completed, you’ll be expected to enrol in the PG Cert in CAMHS.

You’ll need to be someone who can work autonomously and is a team player, who is flexible, strong in who they are and willing to share and to learn along the way. Sense of humour an absolute must and the ability to enjoy our team.

In return we can offer:
  • A truly amazing and authentic team who support and enjoy each other’s company (mostly!)
  • Great opportunities for clinical growth and development
  • A supportive DHB, that recognises the value of the work we do with children and young people
  • A smashing community that works hard to ensure our Young people and their families reach their potential
