Located in the lower part of the North Island of New Zealand, MidCentral District Health Board provides health care to a population of over 180,000, the majority of whom live in Palmerston North City. The District Health Board is well advanced through a transformational change programme across the region to deliver an integrated health and social system for individuals, patients, family/whanau and communities.
 
The DHB provides a wide range of Specialist Services across the spectrum of Acute and Elective, Specialist Services care.
 
MidCentral DHB also incorporates Enable New Zealand, one of the largest disability support services providers in New Zealand.
 
We are now seeking an experienced and inspirational leader as the Clinical Executive of the Acute and Elective, Specialist Services cluster. The ideal candidate will be an active, outcomes-focused member of the Executive Leadership team, with the ability to contribute to overall organisational decision-making, communication, effective and timely strategic and transformational change of the Acute and Elective, Specialist Services Cluster within agreed financial targets. The incumbent will play a key role in providing clinical leadership to the cluster and create a culture of accountability, quality and high performance.

MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.
 
Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000. In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.
 
Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
