MidCentral District Health Board actively seeks Māori into our workforce to reflect the community we serve.
MidCentral DHB is seeking a Specialist Anaesthetist.

The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care provides a wide range of anaesthetic and intensive care services. The theatre complex consists of seven operating theatres, but is currently undergoing expansion to nine, plus use of a theatre at our private hospital. The department is staffed by 30 specialist anaesthetists, eight registrars in training posts and six senior house officers. We operate 2 separate on-call rosters for anaesthesia and intensive care.
Palmerston North Hospital is a busy secondary hospital providing some tertiary services.
We offer:
- Almost all sub-specialties (except neurosurgery and cardiac surgery)
- Specialist medical staff with registrar and house officer support
- Active Postgraduate Medical Society
- Well-subscribed medical library with Medline computer facilities
- Committed multi-disciplinary teams for our services, including quality nursing and paramedical staff.
There is a healthy private practice of anaesthesia in Palmerston North, and a half day off per week would be available for the appointees to the above position to pursue opportunities in this area.
