Every day our nurses and midwives work hard to provide health care to our populations. MidCentral DHB has around 1000 nurses and midwives on staff, who make a difference every day to the lives of New Zealanders.

2020 has been endorsed by the World Health Organization as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. At MidCentral DHB we will also be acknowledging our nurses and midwives who have made a contribution to the professions. We also recognise nursing and midwifery as distinct professions and we will be celebrating each with events throughout the year.
Over the coming weeks and months, as part of our continued celebration of 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, you’ll see a number of stories appear here from nursing leaders and advocates in the community, profiles of past and present nursing leaders and information from the Ministry’s Chief Nursing Office highlighting the great career option that is nursing.
