Palmerston North Hospital provides the potential for any dietitian at any stage of their career to grow and increase their knowledge across a range of areas and specialities.
The Dietetic department is made up of a team of nine dietitians both full time and part time. As a department there are opportunities to get involved in various projects and we strive to remain progressive and up to date with current practice and research. We provide services to the following departments:
- Regional Oncology Treatment Centre
- Renal, for both the MCH and Whanganui DHB areas
- Surgical
- ICU
- Paediatrics
- Medical
- Rehabilitation
- Women’s Health
- Mental Health including Adult and Paediatric Eating Disorders
- Cardiology
- Specialist Outpatients
- Complex Diabetes
- Orthopaedics
- Nutrition Support Team
- Home Enteral Nutrition
- Food Service
As dietitians in the MidCentral DHB we enjoy strong relationships with all the dietitians in the area and meet regularly for continuing education.
We work closely with other dietetic services within our region to provide services to the community which include 4 Primary Health Organisations (PHO) and private practice dietitians.
