We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed General Physician with a sub specialty in Diabetology/Endocrinology to join our team as soon as possible.

This is a new position with a Primary Health Care focus established as part of the Diabetes Service Plan. The purpose of this position is to work within an inter-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of clinical practice and clinical expertise. The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of efficient general medicine, diabetes and endocrinology services to the community and region served by MidCentral District Health Board, the four Primary Health Organisations and Iwi across the district.

MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.

Palmerston North Hospital is a 300 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 75,000 and a total population catchment of 161,000. In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
