Women's Health at Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua | MidCentral has gone through exciting changes in the last five years.
We are now a truly multidisciplinary team working together in improvement and innovation with a focus on the best possible outcomes for women, babies and families in our community and on MidCentral's values “Compassionate, Respectful, Courageous and Accountable”. Among the achievements in the last years are significant decreases in Caesarean Section rates and the establishment of an efficient one-stop-shop post-menopausal bleeding clinic.

Following a recent appointment after a retirement we are now looking to welcome another consultant to join our obstetrics and gynaecology service in a full time capacity (1FTE) to take up newly established FTE.  This role will suit either a newly qualified or an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a range of generalist skills. The ideal applicant will also have a special interest in obstetrics and obstetric ultrasound. If you have an interest in research there are great possibilities at MidCentral.
The obstetric service provides a range of primary and secondary inpatient and outpatient care in the MidCentral District including obstetric ultrasound and a multidisciplinary antenatal diabetic clinic. These services are provided from Palmerston North Hospital. The neonatal unit accepts babies from 28 weeks gestation. Primary Birthing units are located in Palmerston North, Levin and Dannevirke. There are around 2000 births a year within MidCentral. Gynaecology services, including colposcopy, urogynaecology, fertility and hysteroscopy clinics, are provided at Palmerston North Hospital on an inpatient and outpatient basis for women throughout the MidCentral District.  Outpatient clinics are also provided at Horowhenua Health Centre (Levin), Feilding and at Dannevirke by MidCentral consultants. The successful candidate will take part in the on-call roster. There is 24/7 cover of both a registrar and a house officer and the unit is accredited for both core and advanced RANZCOG trainees.
