MidCentral Health Public Health Service delivers a range of population-based services to the people of Palmerston North, Manawatu, Horowhenua and Tararua, (the MidCentral Health region). We need a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and innovative health promoter to join our population health team.
 
MidCentral Public Health Service has a focus on reducing inequalities in health outcomes. You must have the ability to work across cultures in a way that respects and values diversity. You must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and experience at building rapport with people from all backgrounds including, Iwi Agencies, NGO’s, Asian and Pacific communities and health agencies.
 
You will be focused on planning, delivery and evaluation of strategies and projects to improve mental well being.  We are looking for someone with good knowledge, experience and appropriate tertiary qualifications who is passionate about improving the health status of Mäori. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
 
This position is 20 hours per week, fixed term until end of September 2021.

Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000. In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.
 
Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
