Over 150 health care professionals and organisations are involved in providing health and disability services to the region.

Purchasing of health and disability services occurs through six health portfolio areas. For details of providers for each portfolio, the type of services they deliver, and the contract value. This information is updated annually for the Annual Plan (AP), with the latest information being in the Funding Arrangements document.  The six portfolio areas are:  primary health, secondary care, mental health, Maori health, disability support services, and public health.

Public health services are provided by MidCentral DHB's Public Health Unit and Primary  Health Organisation.  They are valued at around $9 million (annual).

Each portfolio is allocated funds and the 2011/12 allocation is:
