The Funding Team monitors the health status of the local population, which includes a formal health needs assessment every five years, and an annual child and youth health needs assessment.
The health needs assessment tells the DHB which groups and/or communities are most dis-advantaged and where resources should be investment.
The Funding Team is also responsible for development strategies and plans to address identified health and disability needs. The team contracts with over 150 providers to ensure people in the district have access to a comprehensive range of services.
Health services are planning and purchased in five portfolio areas:
- Disability Support Services
- Maori Health
- Mental Health and Addiction Services
- Primary Health (including child and youth)
- Specialist Secondary Care
