MidCentral DHB's Plans for the Year Ahead
The District Annual Plan identifies what the DHB intends to achieve over the next 12 months. The achievements will progress the DHB toward achieving its vision and long term strategy (as set out the District Strategic Plan).
The 2009/10 District Annual Plan
MidCentral DHB's focus for the next three years is detailed in its 2009/10 District Annual Plan. The DHB has many initiatives planned for the next three years and these cover promoting good health, improving access to primary and secondary (hospital) services, and target population groups such as children, youth, the elderly, Maori and Pacific peoples. More work will be done with other DHBs in the central region, and with Whanganui DHB.
MidCentral DHB will also ensure continuation of the full range of services, with increasing hospital services planned.
The key challenges facing MidCentral DHB are:
- living within budget, ie financial sustainability
- delivering elective volumes
- ensuring cancer waiting times are met
- reducing emergency department waiting times
- structuring specialist services on a regional service basis.
The annual plan also details how MidCentral DHB plans to spend its funding of $507.6 million on health and disability services for the district. This is made up of $504.1m revenue and $3.5m from retained earnings.
