Emergency Planning

Emergency management ensures communities can effectively respond to disasters and other unplanned events and recover from them efficiently.

As a critical service, community healthcare facilities and services need clearly defined, documented and practiced business continuance and emergency response plans that contribute to the overall resilience of communities in the face of a disaster.

The MidCentral District Health Board (MDHB) Emergency Planning Team work with the whole of the district, from Palmerston North Hospital staff, to community health providers providing planning, advice and coordination. Read the Health Emergency Plan for MidCentral DHB.

Emergency Planning - Staff

To manage the organisation's plans for Business Continuity, Emergency Response, Pandemic and Strike Action across all arms of the MidCentral District Health Board. Responsibilities also include other MidCentral sites locations beyond Palmerston North including Levin, Feilding, Dannevirke and Otaki.

Public Health Emergency Management & Response

In preparation for civil defence or other emergencies MidCentral Health’s Public Health Service develops plans and procedures to reduce the impact on public health. These plans are developed for both MidCentral's region (Palmerston North, Manawatu, Horowhenua and Tararua) and the good health Wanganui region.
