Six national health targets have been established for the NZ Health Sector. These are based on the Minister of Health's strategic priority areas. The health targets form part of MidCentral DHB's district annual plan.

- Shorter waits for cancer treatment
- Increased immunisation
- Better help for smokers to quit

For each of the national health targets, MidCentral DHB has established it own local target and these form part of its annual plan.
Further information about the national health targets can be accessed from the Ministry of Health.
