    MidCentral District Health Board (MDHB) is always looking to improve the health of its district, not only by servicing health needs today, but also planning for the future.

    MDHB's Health Priorities


    MidCentral DHB has identified 10 priority areas for the next 10 years. This follows an analysis of the district's current health status, MidCentral's projected future health needs and what will make the greatest impact towards improving the health of the district's population overall.

  • Health Needs


    MidCentral District Health Board regularly assesses the health needs of its community and the results are published in the Health Needs Assessment document.

  • Primary Care Planning


    The Future of Primary Care - Towards 2010: Capacity, Sustainability, Collaboration and Innovation.

  • Hospital Clinical Service Planning


    In 2007 MidCentral Health developed a comprehensive Clinical Service Plan (CSP) to provide a strategic framework that identifies the clinical services and models of care that will be needed to be meet the future demand of the population of MidCentral District.

  • Workforce Planning


    The planning, funding and delivery of health services for MidCentral DHB’s district involves a team of over 2,400 people – the majority of whom are health professionals. MidCentral DHB's Workforce Development Strategy aims to to ensure it has an appropriately skilled and experienced workforce.

  • Emergency Planning


    Emergency management is about ensuring communities can effectively respond to disasters and other unplanned events and recover from them efficiently.

  • Pandemic Planning


    A Pandemic - It's not a matter of if, but when'. Find out how MidCentral DHB is planning for a pandemic and what you can do to be prepared.

  • Infrastructure


    As a District Health Board, MidCentral DHB has a huge range of buildings, equipment and information systems. These form the infrastructure for services and decision-making. Replacement and investment in new assets and informations systems is planned, and this is documented in the DHB's Asset Management Plan and its Information Systems Strategic Plan.

  • Health Targets


    Ten national health targets have been established for the NZ Health Sector. These are based on the Minister of Health's strategic priority areas. The health targets form part of MidCentral DHB's district annual plan.

  • Regional Clinical Service Planning


    The Regional Clinical Services Plan (RCSP) has been initiated by the combined boards of the six Central Region DHBs. They are Capital & Coast, Hawke’s Bay. Hutt Valley, MidCentral, Wairarapa, and Whanganui DHB. Once developed, is to open an informed debate about the future delivery of health services in the lower North Island.
