| Joint contract between MidCentral and Whanganui DHBs
A new venture by MidCentral, and Whanganui DHBs should result in better value for money, greater efficiencies, and streamlining of services for direct patient care.
Both district health boards have approved a joint contract with Spotless Services (NZ) Limited to provide an integrated facilities management and hotel services solution across the region to include facilities engineering and maintenance, biomedical engineering, grounds maintenance, patient and retail food, meals on wheels, dietetic services, cleaning, orderlies, mail and print room operations, security and transport and fleet management.
The joint project is one of the initiatives that has arisen from the centralAlliance, and the need to regionally strengthen the services we provide our patients, while reducing costs and being as efficient as possible.
Jeff Small, the Group Manager, Commercial Support Services at MidCentral DHB, and Brian Walden, the General Manager, Strategic Development at Whanganui DHB are both extremely pleased to be able to work together with Spotless as the single service provider in areas where collaboration across the region will directly benefit patients and their care.
Spotless have won the joint contract for the next five years, beginning on 1 August 2010 and during this time other district health board’s and government agencies have an option to join the initiative.
The awarding of the contract was approved by the Whanganui DHB at its meeting on 28 May 2010 and by MidCentral DHB at its Board meeting yesterday, following an extensive public tender and evaluation process.
Both district health boards are looking forward to continuing to work together to explore further ways of streamlining our services.
