Car Park Vandalism at Palmerston North Hospital

A substantial amount of parking equipment at Palmerston North Hospital was damaged by vandals last night, including new automatic payment machine shelters and barrier arms.

MidCentral District Health Board, Commercial Support Services Group Manager, Jeff Small, said: “All equipment is still functioning, however much of it will need repairing and this will be done as soon as possible.

“Hospital security staff and the police are currently reviewing surveillance footage and those responsible for the damage will be held accountable.

“This is a huge inconvenience to patients, visitors, and staff and is very disappointing. All endeavours will be made to reduce the likelihood of this happening again. Visitors and staff are assured that they continue to be safe while on hospital grounds as this vandalism was targeted purely at equipment.”
