Surgical Bus Completes 170 Operations

| Mobile Surgical Bus
Since September 2007 the mobile surgical bus has completed 170 operations in the Horowhenua region.
The mobile surgical bus will be visiting Levin this Wednesday (9 February) for an open day. The bus will be parked at Horowhenua Health Centre and will be open for schools to visit in groups as well as the public.
This is a great opportunity to check out what’s inside the bus, such as its operating theatre, patient waiting area, surgical scrub room, recovery room, sterilising area and kitchen/staff area.
The bus is a self-contained day surgery centre performing operations including: orthopaedic, dental, endoscopy and gynaecology procedures as well as general surgery.
Contracted by MidCentral District Health Board, rather than replacing existing health services, the bus acts as a catalyst for communities and rural health professionals to develop better rural health systems.
The bus will be at Horowhenua Health Centre on Liverpool Street in Levin, and will be open to the public from 9.30am to 4pm on Wednesday 9 February.
