| Free dental care for children
MidCentral Health will have four sites available throughout its region during the October school holidays for children and adolescents up to 17 years to make appointments to have free dental checks.
The fixed Central Normal School dental clinic in Aroha Street Palmerston North, and the fixed chair in the Horowhenua Health Centre will be used, along with a two-chair mobile clinic at Manchester Street School, Feilding, and a single-chair mobile clinic at Coley Street School in Foxton. Dental clinics will be operating on most days of the two weeks of holidays between 10-21 October, from 8.30am to 4pm daily.
The October school holiday dental programme follows on from the very successful July school holiday dental programme at Shannon, and the Horowhenua Health Centre where a total of 226 patients were seen, 117 had their treatments finished, and 107 required a return visit.
Child and Adolescent Oral Health Service Clinical Coordinator Yvonne Murphy is hoping for another successful fortnight of visits, especially from pre-schoolers in each of the areas being visited. She said it was important for parents to call and book appointments.
Dental Clinics will be operating from the following schools during the school holidays:
