| Dental Clinic Contract
A tender has been awarded to Buildrite Construction of Palmerston North for the building of the first two new fixed dental clinics at city schools.
The two-chair clinics at Ross Intermediate, and Intermediate Normal Schools, are part of the $4 million MidCentral DHB’s Child and Adolescent Oral Health project that is gradually being rolled out in the region, and nationally.
Work is expected to begin in about a month and be completed in another four months.
Another fixed dental clinic is planned to be included in The Palms in Palmerston North, while others will be incorporated into proposed Integrated Family Health Centres in Dannevirke, Feilding and the one opened in the Horowhenua Health Centre in June 2011.
The fixed clinics have been strategically placed around the region to provide universal access for all children under 18 requiring free dental services, as well as good access for parents or guardians attending with their children.
The fixed clinics will complement nine mobile clinics –six of them new – that are being progressively built and put into service in schools in the MDHB region.
The fixed and mobile clinics will progressively replace existing aging school dental clinics in the MDHB district.
