MidCentral and Whanganui DHBs are pleased to jointly announce the appointment of Dr Digby Ngan Kee as the regional clinical director of Regional Women’s Health Services.
Dr Ngan Kee has been Clinical Director of MidCentral Health’s Women’s Health since 2007, and a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at MidCentral Health since the late 1980s, including the time of the Manawatu–Wanganui Area Health Board.
He is currently Vice President for New Zealand of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists New Zealand (RANZCOG).
Wanganui Hospital general manager public hospital and health services Jeanette Black, and MidCentral Health general manager Lareen Cooper both warmly greeted today’s announcement as an another important step toward a joint regional women’s health service for both DHBs.Both General Managers note Dr Digby Ngan Kee’s extensive clinical leadership at MidCentral Health over many years, and more recently as its Clinical Director of Women’s Health, and feel he will bring both this experience and his commitment to women’s health to the challenges involved in this regional position.
Dr Ngan Kee is pleased to be commencing in the role on 18 May and commencing his orientation at Wanganui Hospital this week.
The newly created Regional Clinical Director position was one of a number of initiatives arising from the Conceptual Service Plan Women’s and Children’s Health Services in the Whanganui and MidCentral DHB’s region.
Dr Ngan Kee will be responsible for providing clinical leadership for the overall strategic and operational direction for the Regional Women’s Health Service involving both boards.
The Regional Clinical Director will work within the Memorandum of Understanding between the two Boards which sets out the purpose of the relationship between the two DHBs, the principles of decision-making, the expected outcomes, and the structure for delivering the outcomes.
The Regional Clinical Director will also work with a Regional Women’s Health Services Leadership Group and be supported by a Project Manager to develop a detailed Implementation Plan.
