Ormond Stock, MidCentral District Health Board member since 2007, has resigned today. Mr Stock was appointed to the Board and had previously served a term from 1998-2001 on the MidCentral Health Board.
MidCentral DHB Chairman Ian Wilson today said he was disappointed to lose such an important member of the Board, and especially Mr Stock’s chairmanship of the joint alliance committee between MidCentral and Whanganui DHBs. Mr Stock has also resigned from Whanganui DHB where he has been a member since 2001.
Mr Wilson said “Ormond has worked tirelessly to progress the alliance between both district health boards. He has been there from the initial discussions and has brought a steady hand to its development.
“He has brought his business skills into the health sector and has had a long involvement with MidCentral DHB and its predecessors. He was instrumental in the last big Palmerston North Hospital site redevelopment and has constantly strived to improve health services, with a strong support of, and commitment to, the Regional Clinical Services Plan.”
Mr Stock’s decision to step aside now comes when the agreement between both DHBs is in place, and clinicians are now working through the practicalities to make the regional vision real.
“Ormond has been a great addition to the Board. He has a sharp mind and is outspoken and passionate about health services for the local community. He has tirelessly worked to better the health of people locally and throughout the region and he will be sorely missed by fellow Board members.”
Mr Stock’s contributions to the New Zealand health sector will continue through his ongoing involvement with the local private Aorangi Hospital.
