| Nursing Review looks at staffing rosters
The Nursing Review announced by MidCentral Health last week is about how MidCentral Health staffs its rosters, and is unlikely to result in redundancies, CEO Murray Georgel explained today.
Mr Georgel said the nursing review follows on from reviews of management and administrative roles in recent months.
About 12 full-time positions – half of them care assistants, and the rest nursing positions – would change as a result of staff roster changes, saving about $700,000.
“The essence of the proposal will see staff aligned to the needs of the patients, with changes to shifts being required in the wards – these are spread between qualified nursing staff and heath care assistants.
“The change in rosters will require changes for our staff, but it is unlikely that there will be redundancies as we have some vacancies, and we will look to redeploy staff wherever possible.”
