| New Maori Chaplain
MidCentral Health has a new chaplain to the Maori hospital community with the appointment and welcome of Pastor Ellen Marsh.
Mrs Marsh, who has lived in the city for the past 35 years, took over from retiring Maori chaplain Rev Kahu Durie, who was farewelled recently.
Rev Durie, who was the first Maori chaplain appointed three years ago at Palmerston North Hospital, will continue in her other roles within the organisation, including that of kaumatua.
Mrs Marsh and her late husband Robin were formerly Ministers in the United Pentecostal Church; and have been associated with St Michael’s Church in Highbury for nine years.
She is a Sunday School teacher there, and “helps out with anything else that needs doing”, along with other community work including being a member of the Te Whakahuia Board.
She said: “People is my passion no matter what age.”
