Levin elderly care resident Avis Holder is delighted at the easy accessibility offered by the Horowhenua Health Centre Pharmacy.
Mrs Holder said the pharmacy’s working presence in the Horowhenua Health Centre in Liverpool Street suited her needs “very nicely”.
“It’s easy to get to, offers quick service and has all the necessities I need,” she said. “It’s ideal.”
The pharmacy opened for business in the health centre in early September last year and has been welcomed by people converted to the one-stop health shop concept provided by the centre and pharmacy.
Pharmacy owner, Diane Welch - who also operates the Tararua Pharmacy on the corner of Queen and Winchester Streets, Levin – was extremely pleased at the support the pharmacy had received.
“The foot traffic is good, people appear to be happy with the service and the working conditions are excellent – nice, light and bright with plenty of space.”
She said it was also a good feeling to find the pharmacy a part of the health centre team and not isolated.
Ms Welch said the wireless connection between the Horowhenua and Tararua pharmacies, which allow patients to collect repeat prescriptions at either site, was important and working well.
Charge Pharmacist, Bryant O’Neil, said the pharmacy’s site near the main entrance was excellent and the three-member staff enjoyed the environment in which they worked.
“We have good neighbours in the front office and it’s very handy being near other medical professionals such as the ward nurses and the mental health and physio teams,” he said.
Senior Dispensary Technician, Helen Love, said the feedback from customers had been positive.
“Many enjoy the fact that they can come into the centre and see a doctor, get their blood tests, have an X-ray and obtain their required medication,” she said. “Everything is here.”
But the final words remain with Mrs Holder, a resident the Summerset-Levin elderly care village:
“The situation is certainly an improvement on what was available before. You get a few grumbles when there are changes – but it’s worked out really well.”
