| 2008 Health Awards open for applications
Applications are now open for MidCentral District Health Board's 2008 Health Awards. These awards are designed to celebrate the hard work of health providers throughout the district.
MidCentral DHB has hosted Health Awards for the primary health sector since 2005. With the awards growing in numbers and prestige each year the Board has decided to extend the award criteria to include other health sectors, such as secondary health care.
General Manager of Funding, Mike Grant, says that this decision reflects the evolution of the health sector in recent years. “We are witnessing an exciting change in health care,” says Mr Grant. “More and more we are seeing primary and secondary providers working collaboratively with one other for the benefit of our community.
“The 2008 Health Awards is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the excellent work of all health workers in our region.” Applications for the Health Awards close on 5 September 2008, with the winners announced at the Awards Dinner on 10 October 2008.
The award categories cover a wide range of services from healthy schools to the care of older people and everything in between. Organisations providing health related services in the MidCentral district are encouraged to apply for the Awards.
