MidCentral District Health Board’s 2007 Annual Report has claimed a prestigious national award.
The 80-page report won the category for Best Annual Report by a Government Organisation at the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants’ annual prize-giving in Wellington on Wednesday. The prize was a framed certificate and trophy.
Other finalists in that category were the Department of Corrections, Housing New Zealand Corporation and Ministry of Transport.
Judges said the MidCentral DHB report had presented a coherent account of the organisation’s performance across a diverse range of health activities and “stood up clearly as the winner”.
They also felt it outlined MidCentral DHB’s goals and aspirations in a comprehensive, yet compact, manner and presented vision, priority, physical and financial achievements as one integrated report.
MidCentral DHB Chief Executive Officer, Murray Georgel, in accepting the award, praised the in-house team responsible for the report and said they had “dedicated so much and achieved so much”.
More than 20 organisations, ranging in size from multi-national companies to small community groups, were represented at the finals’ night in which six categories were decided. The overall winner was the Wellington City Council.
MidCentral DHB Manager Administration and Communications, Jill Matthews, was delighted with the result and said it was a case of “third time a winner” for the organisation after it had also been shortlisted for the finals in 2006 and 2007.
She said MidCentral DHB had been rewarded by producing a high quality publication that showcased the huge amount of work being done by the organisation to improve local health services and how health funds were spent on the community’s behalf.
“Each year MidCentral DHB has many achievements through the collective work of hundreds of people and the annual report is one way we can communicate these to a wide audience,” she said.
