MidCentral Health, in partnership with Baxter Healthcare, is presenting the inaugural New Zealand Hospital in the Home (HITH) seminar at Palmerston North Hospital Education Centre on Thursday (8 November).
MidCentral Hospital to Community Nurse Philippa Carson, Pharmacist Lorraine Welman, in conjunction with Baxter Representative Robyn Johnstone, and delegates from other lower North Island DHBs are together developing this leading opportunity for services.
The seminar will foster the growth of New Zealand HITH services by facilitating the presentation of sessions specific to this specialist area and initiate the formation of a national HITH group.
Keynote speaker Dr Lisa Demos, Senior Research Scientist from Ambulatory Care Australia (ACA), will start the seminar with an overview of HITH internationally including directions for the future. Later in the day Dr Demos returns to lead the seminar toward the formation of a national HITH group by describing the inception of ACA.
Other speakers include a sample of HITH services from around New Zealand who will present a snap shot account of their services. The MidCentral HITH team, will be presenting a variety of topics including a patient who has received care from the service, district nurse, Infectious Diseases Consultants, Pharmacists, and Hospital to Community Nurse.
MidCentral Health and Baxter Healthcare look forward to hosting a wide range of health professionals.
