Before you go on holiday please ensure that you have enough of your prescription medicines to last while you are away.
Clare Hynd, MidCentral Pharmacy Group chair said a pharmacist can sell you an emergency three-day supply in certain circumstances, but it will be at a non-subsidised cost.
She said: “The pharmacist can offer health advice and guidance face-to-face, and often without an appointment, on a range of health services such as:
• Helping you or your family/whanau member to stop smoking
• Tummy bugs in babies and children
• The emergency contraceptive pill (ECP)
• Hay fever
• Nits, lice, and scabies
• Vaginal thrush
• Urinary tract Infections
• Eye infections and irritations
• Sunburn and insect bites
• Sprains and strains.
If a pharmacist has any concerns, or it is not appropriate for them to treat you then they will refer you to a doctor.
Please have a safe and happy holiday and use the appropriate member of your Healthcare Team for your health issues.
