In the wake of the Manawatu Gorge closure, health services in Tararua District have been under scrutiny, and the Woodville Medicine Depot is keen not to be overlooked.
Pharmacist James Carroll from the Botanical Road Pharmacy in Palmerston North provides a daily prescription service to the Woodville Medicine Depot for no extra charge to the patient (just the normal cost of prescriptions). He said: “We fill prescriptions as well as provide some other over the counter medications. I am also available on the phone if people want advice.”
Carroll said: “I think most people are aware of the Woodville Medicine Depot, but it is timely to remind people that the service exists. As long as I get the prescription or request by 1pm at the latest I can usually have it over to the Woodville Medicine Depot by 3pm. My staff at the Depot provide a great service for the locals, who don’t have to travel to get prescription medicines.”
While there is a GP service in Woodville, people in the township also go to GPs in Palmerston North, Pahiatua and Dannevirke. There are also some Woodville people that are hospital patients.
If people in the Woodville district have medicine and pharmacy enquiries they should phone 06 358 1787.
The Woodville Medicine Depot is at 56 Vogel St, Woodville. It is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (closed between 12.30 and 1.30 for lunch). Phone 376 5108.
