MidCentral DHB’s annual Christmas Appeal has proved to be successful yet again.
The total amount of donations received through patients and staff at MidCentral DHB reached 1850 gifts, which is almost a third of the total donations received by the Kmart Wishing tree appeal. Altogether 5951 presents were collected through the PN Kmart store appeal.
The $300 raised by MidCentral DHB’s women’s health service team went toward gifts for teenage boys and created 31 gifts ranging from deodorant gift packs to outdoor sports equipment and even a few skateboards. The appeal often struggles for presents for the teenage boy’s age group.
Jonathan Malone, Store Manager for Kmart Palmerston North said: “The Palmerston North Wishing tree appeal was still the most successful out of all the Kmart stores in New Zealand. I know that the reason for that is because we have great partners like you and your team working with us to help support families in need at Christmas. Every year I am amazed with the generosity of the Palmerston north community and the ability for different organisations to band together to achieve something truly special.”
MidCentral DHB would like to thank all their patients and staff for their help with this successful appeal, including the many donations of non-perishable food, none of which would have happened without the generosity of all who donated.
