MidCentral DHB will be promoting exciting careers in health at a variety of events over the coming months, with the first being the Sort It Expo at Arena 2 on 5 May.
MDHB will have a presence at the expo, and are encouraging anyone who is interested in healthcare to come and have a look at the stall. While the first careers that spring to mind are ones such as nurse, doctor, and midwife, there are a wide variety of other career paths that can be taken in health.
Whether it’s radiation therapy, medical imaging, or social work, most people will find a role that appeals to them.
MDHB Medical Recruitment Consultant Christine Wood is promoting this variety of career paths.
She said: “Being a nurse or doctor is a really exciting career, and if that is a person’s passion, then we encourage them to follow it. What we also want to show is, just because you don’t want to be a nurse or doctor, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a career in health with your name on it.
“We have such a wide variety of options for those seeking a future career; and health has the great benefit of allowing you to go home at the end of each day knowing you improved the lives of others in our communities.”
“If this sounds like your sort of thing, then pop down to Stall Five at Arena 2 on Tuesday 5 May and check out what we have to offer.”
To help spread this message farther, MDHB will be holding career days at high schools across the district, over the next few months, to give students an insight into what a career in health can offer them.
