Former MidCentral District Health Board committee member Dennis Emery has been reappointed to the board’s hospital advisory committee, for two years.
Mr Emery, a local businessman, of Ngati Maniapoto and Ngati Kauwhata descent, is employed as the Kaitakawaena (Advisor Maori) at Arohanui Hospice, based in Palmerston North. He is also a member of Manawhenua Hauora, the board’s Iwi partner. He replaces Stephen Paewai who resigned from the committee in May.
From 2002 to 2010 he was an appointed member of the MDHB and served on all statutory committees including the hospital advisory committee, audit committees, and Enable New Zealand Governance Group.
Chairman Phil Sunderland welcomed Mr Emery’s appointment saying he has had extensive involvement in Maori health organisations.
Mr Emery’s appointment will be for two years until 30 June 2017.
