MidCentral District Health Board’s Public Health Unit is advising people to stay out of the floodwater as it should be considered contaminated.
The Public Health Unit is advising people to avoid playing or wading in the waters due to contamination. They also recommend that hands should be washed in clean water after touching anything that may be contaminated by the floodwater.
The wastewater systems are under pressure and it is advised to refrain from having showers, flushing toilets, using washing machines and dishwashers to reduce pressure on the waste water system.
