Eseta Bason, mum of six, is telling women “Don’t be shy, being shy won’t give you another life” as part of the ‘Time to Screen’ campaign.
She says: “Islanders can be very private, but these days are long gone. We’ve got to be there for our kids, we don’t want someone else to have to look after them.”
Eseta, along with the other women featuring in the campaign, know that breast screening is worth it, especially if something is picked up earlier.
BreastScreen Coast to Coast Manager Denise Mallon said: “Eseta is an amazing mum to six children, and we’re so glad to have her as part of our ‘Time to Screen’ campaign. She makes some great points. While people can be shy we really want to encourage women. Our technologists will take great care of you and ensure you feel comfortable throughout the screening process. We are happy to show people through the process first so that they know what to expect, just give us a call.”
Breast screening is free for women aged between 45 and 69 years. Call 0800 270 200 to book an appointment
