MidCentral Health’s Ward 27 provides both acute and elective services for patients admitted to hospital for surgical subspecialty procedures/treatment.
Ward 27 has 14 beds mainly for patients admitted to hospital for specialist surgical procedures (surgical subspecialties). Surgical subspecialties include gynaecology, urology, dental, otorhinolaryngology (ear, nose and throat surgery), ophthalmology, and Oral Maxillofacial surgery. The average length of stay for urology and gynaecology patients is two days.
Nursing and medical staff work collaboratively and in partnership with all members of the allied health team to ensure optimum care is provided to all patients. Other MidCentral Health services such as social workers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists support patients in the ward. Other services include the Palliative Care team, and Hospital in the Home.
