The Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is comprised of data storage, image display and links to equipment that acquires the diagnostic images.
PACS manages images from various sources, such as Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography (CT), Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA), Radiology (plain x-rays) and Medical Photography.
Medical Imaging PACS is setup to share medical images with other PACS sites throughout New Zealand. When required, patients images can be transferred between MidCentral PACS and the other sites in a secure manner.
MidCentral is part of the Lower North Island Regional PACS Archive. This means we are able to view images already located at the following sites:
- Capital Coast
- Hawke’s Bay
- Hutt Valley
