Primary Maori Health

MidCentral District Health Board (MDHB) has health services available ‘for Maori, by Maori’. These health services are based throughout the region and all have a strong relationship with Manawhenua Hauroa – a consortium of all Iwi throughout the MDHB.

Values Centred on Tikanga Maori

The four local Iwi – Ngati Rangitane, Ngati Raukawa, Muaupoko, Ngati Kahungunu – and the three Maori health providers that operate within the DHB, centre their values on Tikanga Maori, affiliation to Iwi, knowledge of and linkage with their communities, and promoting a holistic health philosophy.
