Women's Surgical Unit (WSU)

The Women's Surgical Unit (WSU) was opened in late 2009 for women undergoing surgical short stay procedures.

The Women's Surgical Unit (WSU) is for women undergoing surgical short stay procedures from the following specialties:

  • Gynaecology
  • General Surgery
  • Ear Nose and Throat, and
  • Orthopaedics (Non Joint).

The WSU has eight beds. The entrance to the unit is via the ground floor entrance to the Women’s Health Unit, with access to the second floor from the lift at the north end of that building.

Visitors should follow the signs from the Main Entrance of the Hospital to the Women’s Health Unit.

Visiting hours for WSU are daily from 2pm-8pm. For more information about visiting please read General Information for Patients and Visitors.

Nursing and medical staff work collaboratively and in partnership with all members of the allied health team to ensure optimum care is provided to all patients. Other MidCentral Health services such as social workers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists support patients in the ward.
